Flourish Cafe’s 1st Birthday!

One year ago on July 22nd 2022, something truly remarkable happened in the heart of Auckland. Flourish Cafe opened its doors for the very first time, and what a year it's been! As we celebrate Flourish Cafe's first birthday, we reflect on a journey that goes beyond culinary delights. This cafe, the first of its kind in Auckland, has become a symbol of inclusivity, empowerment, and community for individuals with intellectual disabilities and learning differences.

A Cafe Journey with a Purpose

From its inception, Flourish Cafe set out to be more than just a place to enjoy a meal; it aimed to be a place of opportunity and growth. This vision was realised through its unique training program, designed specifically for young individuals with intellectual disabilities and learning differences. It's a program that recognises the potential in every trainee and offers them the chance to develop essential life and vocational skills.

Over the past year, Flourish Cafe has been a hub of learning. Trainees have had the opportunity to hone their talents under the guidance of skilled chefs. From perfecting latte art to crafting delectable dishes, each trainee has embraced their journey with determination and enthusiasm. This cafe isn't just about serving food; it's about serving up opportunities for personal and professional development.

We’ve had 2 cohorts of trainees come through our doors, complete training and move into their employment journey. It’s been an honour to watch them grow and walk alongside them in reaching their goal of meaningful employment.
